Charles Tidwell

Charles Anthony Tidwell, known by his family and friends as "Yogi" was a loveable father, grandfather, uncle, brother and friend. He passed away on July 26, 2023 at the age of 66. His ongoing battle with several medical issues showed his courage in facing life and challenges with a smile and easygoing spirit. Despite any pain he was in, Charles remained the same funny and vibrant soul until his last days.
Since a very young age, Charles has been a self-proclaimed "Redskins Superfan." On any given day, you would find him wearing Redskins clothing or accessories, refusing to switch over to Washington Commanders memorabilia with the new name change. Charles was extremely handy and tech-savvy, always with a new gadget or app idea. Additionally his love of cars and his ability to build, create and draw were activities he loved to divulge in during his free time.
Charles was a big family man; He leaves behind his daughters Diamond and Emerald, his grandson Khalil, his niece Tracie, his brother Lamond and a host of extended family and friends. He is joining his mother Jannie Mae, fathers Dale, Frank and Delvin, and his nephews Dale and Derek, in their heavenly home.
Charles will be honored in a Redskins/Commanders-themed celebration of life on August 26, 2023. This celebration will be located in Hampton at the Boo Williams Sports Complex- Multipurpose Room, 5 Armistead Pkwy B, from 11am to 2pm. Please join us in your burgundy and gold in his honor.
