Charles Anthony Warren went to be with the Lord on April 6, 2025. He was 72 years old and was surrounded by family a day after celebrating his birthday.
Charles, or Tuffy, as many people knew him, was a loving husband, father, brother, and grandfather, who worked most of his career as a printer. He took great pride in the signs he printed, which would greet the thousands of customers who shopped at McRae's department stores and stores across the country.
Charles was also an avid photographer, who photographed multiple weddings on the side. He loved going to Vicksburg to take photos of the many monuments there and especially enjoyed going to the Vicksburg National Military Park on Memorial Day to photograph the graveyard.
Charles was born on April 5, 1953, to James and Sarah Irene Warren in Wichita Falls, Texas. As a child, he, his mother, and multiple brothers and sisters moved to Northeast Mississippi. Save for his time in the U.S. Navy, Charles would spend the rest of his life in the Magnolia State.
After serving in the Navy during Vietnam, he returned home, where he met and married Ethel Mae Buchanan. The two were married after six months and remained together until his death.
Charles attended Itawamba Junior College, where he made numerous friends and was a photographer on the school paper.
He and Ethel would later move to Jackson, where they had their first child, Anthony, in 1981. The two would later move to Terry, where they had a second child, Maggie, in 1992.
Charles was known for his very generous spirit and the love of his family. He would spend his last dime to buy food for someone else and would often volunteer to help others in need.
Baptized into the Methodist Church, during COVID-19 Charles began attending online worship services with his wife at North Brandon Church of Christ.
Charles was preceded in death by his mother Sarah Irene Cummings, his stepfather Ray Worcester, father James Warren, sister Linda Olde and brother David Worcester. He is survived by his wife Ethel, his brother Jimmy Warren, sister Sherri Chatham (Randy), Tommy Worchester (Loretta), Teresa McClure (Andy), sister Lori Braddock, and multiple other half-brothers and half-sisters, son Anthony, daughter Maggie, grandson Jackson, and multiple nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, and cousins.
He will be laid to rest in Terry Cemetery. Visitation is slated for 1 p.m. at North Brandon Church of Christ, with the funeral service beginning at 2 p.m.
