Charles Gregory Wright, 82, of Riverview, Michigan, formerly of West Frankfort, Illinois, passed away on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at Belle Fountain Health and Rehab Center in Riverview, Michigan.
Charles was born on September 20, 1942, in West Frankfort, Illinois to Wayne and Mavis (Flota) Wright. He was a military veteran and retired from a 21-year career in the U.S. Army January 1982, as an (E-8) Master Sergeant. He served in the Special Forces 173rd Airborne Division and completed three tours in Vietnam. He was loved by his family and friends and enjoyed spending time in Beverly Hills, Florida, playing golf, bowling, and keeping in touch with his retired Army buddies.
He was preceded in death by his wife Linnette, parents Mavis and Wayne Wright, and brother James Bradford Wright.
Charles is survived by his daughter, Debbie (Jeff) Woolard; and sons: John (Lisa) Wright, Charles G. (Maureen) Wright II, James E. Wright, and Arnold E. Wright; grandchildren: Jacob Woolard, Kylie Woolard, Dalton (Jodi) Woolard, Cole Wright, Cali Wright, Charles G. Wright III, Megan Wright, Alessandro (Rachel) Wright, Arthur Wright; great-grandchildren: Camden Woolard, Jackson Woolard, Sawyer Anders, Maren Woolard, Marlee Woolard, Rhyse Wright, Olivia Wright, and Logan Wright; nephew, Shawn (Deborah) Wright; and great-nephew, Steele from Harpers Ferry, WV.
A memorial service will be held at the Union Funeral Home and will be announced at a later date. Military Rights and burial will follow at the Denning Cemetery on Orient Road.
