Charles Yakimchuk

Charles J. Yakimchuk passed away on July 7, 2024, at Mass General, Boston, Massachusetts surrounded by his loved ones. He was the late husband of Rita L. Yakimchuk. He was born on March 21, 1935, in Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada. He joined the Canadian Navy and later joined United Air Force after moving to the United States. He was in the military for 20 years and later retired from the Pentagon in 1976 and retired to Brewster, MA. He worked for the Town of Brewster for a few years and later opened his own business Chuck Pool's Service.
He is survived by his daughter Kimberly and her husband Robert A. Gaughran and his granddaughter Ashley Russell. Also, he is survived by his sisters, Elizabeth, Twitty, Rose and nephews and nieces.
He loved to travel, spending many Winters with his wife, Rita in New Port Richey, FL and numerous visits to Nova Scotia to visit his family. He enjoyed going out to dinner, fixing and repairing things around the house. He was independent and loved to help others including contributing to various charitable organization, like St. Jude. He was also a longtime member of the Brewster VFW chapter, which he served on the board as a past commander.
He will be greatly missed by his family and those who knew him.
Visting hours will be held Mon. July 15 from 9:00 am- 10:30 am at Chapman Funerals & Cremations 678 Main St. Harwich Center followed by a funeral Mass to be celebrated at 11 AM at St Joan of Arc Church 61 Canal Rd. Orleans. Burial will be held at The Massachusetts National Cemetery Bourne at a later date.
