Charles was born on August 5th 1953, to Eliza Ann Watkins in Athens, AL.
Charles attended Athens Public Schools.
He accepted Christ at an early age and held strong in his faith.
He united in marriage to Alice Pointer.
Charles is preceded in death by his mother, Eliza Watkins, brother Napoleon Pointer, sister, Flora Pointer.
Charles leaves to cherish his life: wife, Alice Pointer; daughters, Sierra Pointer, Sharita Pointer, Paula Bailey, and Siria LoVett; sons, Ken’Darius Blackburn, Steven Pointer, Jeremy Dodson, Charles Pointer, and Antonio Beard; Many grandchildren and great grandchildren ; siblings, Willie Pointer, Eddie Watkins, Patricia Watkins, and Jerome (Joyce) Watkins, Milton (Latasha) Watkins, and Yvonne Watkins all of Athens, AL. Special friends, JoJo Lazo ,Wilma Locke, Ronald Dodson, Jaquisha Sloan; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Charles had a passion for cars and enjoyed fixing anything he could get his hands on. He loved talking extensively to most anyone he met. He had an excellent memory and could recall first names,last names, locations, and many details when telling you stories. He would often say “if Doc can’t fix it nobody can”. He had a tough exterior at times and was very plain spoken, but was always willing to help anyone in need. Charles was affectionately known as Doc by many, and PawPaw by family. Charles touched many lives and will always be remembered.
