RANKIN - Charlotte Virginia Barr, 91, of Rankin, passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.
She was born on Dec. 29, 1932, in Claytonville, the daughter of Eli and Fern (Boyce) Hofer. Virginia married Dwayne Barr in Rankin on June 27, 1954. He preceded her in death on Aug. 18, 2012.
She is survived by a daughter, Pam (Steve) Allen of Sherman; a son, Bruce Barr of Rankin; her grandchildren, Courtney (Bryce) Hoffman of Minier, and Quinn (Jessica) Allen of Sherman; her great-grandchildren, Finley Sue Hoffman, Cannon Lee Hoffman, and Quinn Steven Allen; two sisters, Patricia (Mike) Bushue of Rankin, and Connie (Tom) Cain of Carmel, Ind.; and a sister-in-law, Norma Hofer.
Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; and four brothers, Duane Hofer, Marvin (Joan) Hofer, Gordy (Judy) Hofer, and Larry (Sue) Hofer.
She was a member of the Rankin United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, and the Junior Womens Club of Rankin.
Virginia worked as a waitress for many years and a dietician for the Rankin School District.
Lovingly known as "Aunt Ginny" or "Grandma Ginny", her greatest joy was to be around her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and she loved visiting with family and friends. She also loved to dance with her late husband, Dwayne.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the 1 p.m. funeral service Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at Cox-Knapp Funeral Home in Rankin. Burial will follow at Rankin Union Cemetery. A fellowship gathering will follow at the Rankin United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall.
