Obituary
Charlotte Marie Covington
Charlotte Marie Covington of Boise Idaho passed away peacefully at home on January 31, 2026 surrounded by her daughters. She was born February 19,1943 in Blackfoot Idaho to Erma L Nielson Scott and LeRoy Malm Scott.
She spent her earliest childhood on a farm in Wapello until the age of four, when her parents moved to the farm in Pingree Idaho. As the oldest of six children, she learned responsibility early, a role she carried naturally throughout her life. She worked hard on the family farm learning to drive a tractor at age 6. Despite missing school a lot for this work, she excelled with A's. She attended grade school in Springfield and graduated from high school in Aberdeen. She was recruited to the electronics program at Idaho State and was the only woman out of 75 men at that time. The boys loved playing practical jokes by hotwiring her chair to her toolbox.
Charlotte met the love of her life Steve Covington, and they were married on June 26, 1963 and on their 7th anniversary were sealed for time and all eternity in the Idaho Falls Temple. Together they welcomed four daughters: Jill, Shelley, Candice and Danae. In 1965, they purchased a home on Harmony Acres in Blackfoot, where they raised their family and lived for forty years. In 2005 they moved to the Boise area to be closer to their children and grandchildren.
Early in her marriage, Charlotte worked at Basic American Foods before choosing to stay home as a full-time mother. When her daughter Jill began attending college, Charlotte returned to work and went on to oversee the chemistry lab in the research department, where she worked for several years until retirement. While proud of her professional accomplishments, her most important and cherished work was that of mother, and later grandmother.
Charlotte's motherly love extended far beyond her own family, she welcomed countless friends of her children and members of her church into her heart and home offering love, care and a sense of belonging. She was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day saints, and her Boise ward welcomed her with open arms. She loved her ward deeply and faithfully served in the temple until 2021 when she stepped down from her temple responsibilities. She was blessed by a close group of friends called "The Tribe", who gathered for luncheons, shared the simple joys of life and became like sisters.
She loved gardening and was an avid quilter. She could sew anything and was a creative cook who could create a meal on moment's notice. She was an artist, a friend and someone who gave beauty to everything she touched. Alongside her husband, they were self-taught in construction and together built a cabin in Island Park and renovated and added onto their home in Blackfoot.
Charlotte lived like she loved… to the fullest. She radiated light and love toward everyone who was fortunate enough to know her, leaving a lasting impression through her warmth, generosity and joyful spirit.
She was especially known for her laughter-her joyful giggle. She gave freely of herself through service to her church and her unwavering devotion to her family and friends. She believed strongly in her faith, and we are comforted to know she is surrounded in a joyful reunion by those she loves.
Charlotte was preceded in death by her husband Steve, Parents LeRoy and Erma Scott, In laws Kent and Armeda Covington, as well as many Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.
She is survived by her children Jill (David) Beck of McCall, Shelley (Kevin) Krauklis of Boise, Candice (Garry) Battson of Boise and Danae (Samuel) Booth of McCall. She is also survived by her brothers Jerry (Sharon) Scott, Dan (Marie) Scott, her sisters Susan (Roger) Gunter, Cheryl (David) Beyerle and Teresa Scott. Her beloved grandchildren Nicole (Daniel), Michael, Gray, Brock, Aja and Kage, Kya (Daniel), Madison (Wyatt).
She was deeply loved and absolutely perfect to us. She will be profoundly missed.
