Charlotte Earl Dylis, 89, of West Schuyler, entered into the arms of her Savior on Monday, October 27, 2025. She was born on November 24, 1935, in Utica to Kenneth and Frances Maddock Earl. She grew up in Utica and Inlet, attending local schools in Utica and the Town of Webb.
Charlotte met John Dylis, the love of her life, during their high school years. Seated alphabetically next to each other in English class, their relationship quickly grew. After graduation, John enlisted in the US Air Force, embarking on his military service. They married on November 26, 1953, and Charlotte joined him at Keesler AFB in Biloxi, Mississippi, where he was stationed at the time. Charlotte and John eventually made their home in West Schuyler where they raised 6 daughters.
Charlotte attended Mohawk Valley Community College (MVCC), where she prepared for her career as a medical transcriptionist in local hospitals. Her kind heart and dedication to the community were highly regarded by those who knew her. For many years, Charlotte also served as secretary for the West Schuyler Planning Board, contributing her organizational skills and commitment to civic service. She was an active leader in the Women's Group at the West Schuyler Methodist Church.
Charlotte placed great importance on education throughout her life, viewing it as the foundation for prosperity for future generations. She encouraged her daughters and grandchildren to pursue higher learning, inspiring each of them to obtain college degrees. Charlotte's unwavering support and belief in the value of education served as a guiding influence, motivating her family to strive for both academic achievement and personal growth.
Her impact extended to the youth in her community, as she taught a generation to cook and sew through her leadership in the local 4H program. Her dedication to mentoring young people left a lasting impression on many.
In her later years, Charlotte volunteered with the Munson Williams Proctor Institute, where she organized and led excursions abroad. These trips allowed participants to explore and appreciate world-famous art museums and enjoy enriching cultural experiences.
Charlotte's greatest pride and legacy was her family. Although she experienced the loss of her beloved husband of 71 years in May 2024, she is lovingly remembered and survived by her six cherished daughters and their spouses: Debra Dylis-Weakley, Susan Dylis, Karen (Brad) Gorea, Cynthia (Scott) Wilson, Alicia (Eric) Fachon, and Elena (Scott) Beattie. Her family circle also includes twelve beloved grandchildren and ten adored great-grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in her heart.
Charlotte's warmth and kindness extended beyond her immediate family. She will be deeply missed by countless people whose lives she touched throughout the years, including her sister, Susan Earl Wilbur, as well as many nieces and nephews. She held a particular gratitude for her special niece, Lindy Tuzzolino, whose attentive care and compassion brought comfort in later years. Close family friends Lorraine Loftus and Liz Maciewicz also shared a meaningful bond with Charlotte, providing support and companionship.
During her final two years, Charlotte was appreciative of the gentle care she received from the staff at Sitrin's Magnolia House. She was especially thankful for Amanda and Allie, whom she affectionately referred to as "my angels," recognizing the difference their kindness made in her life.
A celebration of life will take place at a later date, to be determined by the family.
Arrangements are under the direction of McGrath, Myslinski, Kowalczyk & Nunn Funeral Directors, 470 French Rd., Utica.

So sorry to hear of Moms passing. She was a wonderful lady who was kind and cared deeply for others. I have missed seeing her and John at West Schuyler Methodist Church on Sunday mornings. Wishing you peace and sending love to all of you girls and the grandchildren. If the church can do anything for you please let us know. It would be our privilege.
