Charlotte Dean Greer, lifelong resident of Smithfield Virginia, passed away Friday November 21, 2025 at the age of 82.
She was a graduate of Smithfield High School and was known throughout the community for her family’s long-standing restaurant The Twins Old Towne Inn that was a fixture on Main Street for over 40 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ernest William Greer, her parents Charlotte Beatrice Darden Whitley and Joel Alton Whitley and sisters Martha Raye and Alice Faye Whitley.
She is survived by her brother William (Bill) Whitley and sister-in-law Debbie; her 6 daughters, Pamela Spivey, Elaine Hogan (Tim), Barbara Smith (Joe), Sandra McDonald (Mike), Deborah Hunter (Chris) and Kimberley Sowden (John); her 16 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren.
A private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please donate to IOW County Vol. Rescue Squad or Smithfield Vol. Fire Department.
