Charlotte Josephine Houser of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away unexpectedly on December1, 2024, at the age of 80 years old. She was born November 19, 1944, in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Lot Lee and Josephine (DeLuca) Buchanan. Charlotte had a very long, successful career as a dispatcher in the Moving and Storage industry, retiring in 2007. She loved sitting on her deck in the spring and summer, enjoying the quiet oasis of her backyard and watching the vast variety of birds, all while listening to 70s classic rock. In the fall and winter, she was the biggest cheerleader for the Indianapolis Colts, never missing a game. Whenever she mentioned she wanted to “Wander Indiana,” we knew that was code for the “Golden Gamer” to head to the casino. One of her biggest joys was beach time with family, traveling every year to her favorite spot, Panama City Beach. Charlotte loved to stay active, walking her “two miles” every day and working in her yard. She was an active member of the Degree of Honor of Indianapolis and enjoyed her time helping those less fortunate. But most of all, she loved spending time with family and friends, enjoying their company. Charlotte was loved by all and never knew a stranger. She would want to be remembered as a real “Fun Devil” and will be missed by many. Her favorite saying was “Life is Good” and she would want her family and friends to continue living with that spirit. Charlotte is survived by her loving children, Kathi (Artie) Locke, Kelli Schmaltz, Kandi (David) Seay, Kerri Duncan, Erin Egan, and Herb Egan, her 11 grandchildren, her 13 great grandchildren, her sister, Debbie (Tim) Wood, her extended family, and a host of friends. The family invites you to Celebrate Charlotte’s life with them at their Memorial Gathering on December 10, 2024, from 5:00pm-7:00pm at Flanner Buchanan Decatur Township, with the Celebration of Life Service to immediately follow at 7:00pm, also at the funeral home. During the service, the family would love for anyone who has a funny story or fond memory of Charlotte to share it. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial gifts be directed to the St. Vincent DePaul Society. Flanner Buchanan has been entrusted with assisting the family with the cremation arrangements.
