Charlotte Jilleba Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Apyre National Cremation Services - Port Reading on Jul. 7, 2023.
Charlotte Marie Johnson Jilleba, 96, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2023 with family by her side.
She was born on December 6, 1926 to Catherine and Paul Johnson in Bronx, NY where she grew up and lived for many years. She then moved to Bogota, NJ in 1957, where she resided for over 60 years, and then to Bristol Glen in Newton, NJ.
Charlotte was a loving, wise, humble, and giving woman who showed strength and courage throughout her life. Her quick wit brought laughter and lots of smiles to those who knew her. Charlotte was an avid swimmer and a member of the Bogota Swim Club and the Hackensack YMCA where she continued to swim into her 90's. She was featured in The Joy of Swimming for her dedication to the sport. She was a talented watercolor artist who also enjoyed reading, poetry, ice-skating, and all genres of music from Frank Sinatra to The Rolling Stones. "I Can't Get No Satisfaction" was one of her many favorites. She enjoyed playing computer games, such as Scrabble and Solitaire. The Jersey Shore and Jones Beach, NY were her favorite vacation destinations. In her later years, Charlotte found joy in feeding the birds and having interesting conversations with people she met. Her life was enriched by her many enduring friendships.
Charlotte's family meant the world to her, and she was so loved by them all. She is survived by her children - Marie Niarhos, Denise Cassell, and Jeanne Jilleba; her sons-in-law, John Niarhos and David Cassell; 7 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Harold Jilleba and her siblings, Ruth Cherne and Fred Johnson.
Her memory will live on through her family members and all who loved her. Until we meet again, may she rest in peace.
