Chavion Qua'Ne "Chavi" Smith

Mr. Chavion Qua'ne Smith, 20, of 308 Safriet Road, Statesville, North Carolina, passed away in Atlanta, Georgia on October 4, 2023, unexpectedly. He was born in Iredell County on November 11, 2002, and was the son of Maurice Williams and Shonyeka Monyette Smith. He was preceded in death by grandparents, James Allen Smith, Sr., and Tony Miller; brother, Dupree Falls; his "godbrother", Kareen Stevenson; his aunt, Erica Williams; and his godsister, Kaneycha Turner
He was a graduate of Statesville High School and attended UNC Charlotte. Chavion exhibited an exceptional talent and passion for sports from a young age. He played football in High School and later for the Charlotte 49ers.
In addition to his father, Maurice (Tonia) Williams of Statesville and his mother, Shonyekak Monyette Smith (Kenneth Wright); he leaves to cherish his memory, girlfriend, Shania Bailey-Scott of Statesville; his unborn son, Chavion Kysire Scott; two sisters, QuaShama Smith and Kaneycha Brown, both of Statesville; his brothers, Marquise Williams, Petty Officer Cliffton Wilder and Jordan Williams, all of Statesville; his grandparents, Rozetta (James) Harris and Sharon Murdock; his great grandmother, Frances Williams; his aunts and uncles, James Allen "Bam" Smith and Kadisha Harris, Annika Burton of Mooresville, Cody Gray of Statesville, Shana Hamilton of Statesville, Jeremiah Mathis of Statesville; and his special aunt, Janice "Sissy" Smith; Jeff and Natalie Storment from PowerCross for the unconditional love and support; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, classmates, other relatives, neighbors, teammates, and friends.
Celebration of Life Services will be conducted Friday, October 13, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. at Christian Outreach of the Piedmont. Bishop Glenn J. Usry is pastor, Rev. Ivan Cowan will officiate and Bishop Aljamel Stephens will eulogize. Burial will follow in the Belmont Cemetery.
Mr. Smith will remain at Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home until taken to the church to lie in state at 2:00 p.m. Members of the family will receive friends at the church from 2:30 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., but will assemble at the residence at other times.
