Obituary published on Legacy.com by Farone & Son Inc. Funeral Home - Syracuse on Oct. 28, 2025.
It is with profound sadness that we, the loving family and friends of Cheng Lee, announce his passing. Cheng succumbed to pancreatic cancer on October 17, 2025 in his home in
Syracuse, New York. He was 78 years old and fought the disease to his last breath.
In his middle years, Cheng loved napping, watching WWE, and tinkering at home. Perhaps it was this knack for problem solving and tinkering that he enjoyed his employment at Anaren Microwave (now acquired by TTM Technologies). Throughout his 20 years of dedication to his work, he was tapped often to troubleshoot manufacturing issues and problematic parts and components. He was often requested to train incoming employees. His coworkers will remember him as a respected and effective trainer, a good buddy, and as "the king".
In his twilight years, Cheng enjoyed his naps, watching YouTube videos and reviews of hand and power tools, learning about various makes and models of cars and trucks, figuring out the best fishing lures and the most effective fishing techniques, and DIY videos. You might even catch him "playing tag" with squirrels in the backyard or gleefully and thoroughly detailing and washing his cars in the driveway, beaming with pride and wearing a toothless grin upon completion.
Cheng was a quiet soul at heart, and he enveloped himself with patience and the desire for the calm and peace of life. He greatly enjoyed fishing and camping. A few of his favorite fishing spots were Pulaski, Crystal Lake, Cazenovia Lake, and Brewerton. Every summer, he and his family camped at Wellesley State Park in the 1,000 Islands. If he were standing in front of you right now, he would tell you to never fight, offer you a fishing pole, or tell you which gear or equipment would be perfect for camping.
Cheng is preceded in death by his second eldest daughter, Choua Lee, who passed away just two months ago. However, he is survived by his wife: Pang; his eight children: Xai, Lylee, Ashley, Ali, May See, Kong, Hua Va, and Xeeng; 20 grandchildren: Matthew, Maddisyn, Ceritha, Mihna, Natahlia, Sophia, Adam, Celine, Mustafha, Musa, Sajhada, Grace, Immanuel, Khalifa, DeAsia, Evan, Mason, Eva Jo, Finn, and Axel; and 7 great grandchildren: Brandon, Jr., Thelius, Niall, Lotus, Zayden, Zoe, and Amor.
Cheng exuded an amor fati attitude towards life, being more of a "feet on the ground" person than one with his "head in the clouds." Cheng lived a simple and modest life but his wealth knows no bounds, and his legacy shall live on in his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. His remaining eight children will remember his wisdom, his patience, his heroism, his tolerance, his unwavering support, his fierce loyalty, his forgiving spirit, and his practical mindedness.
Rest in peace, Cheng, and enjoy the quietude now.
