With deep love and profound sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Cheri Ann Dunlap (Hamel), who departed this life on June 27, 2025 at the age of 77. Born on August 16, 1947, in Newark, New Jersey, Cheri lived a life defined by passion, quiet strength, and an unwavering commitment to care for others.
Cheri was the devoted mother of Christine, Justin, Brent, and the late Kasey, who passed away on December 23rd, 2022. Her children were the light of her life, and her love for them was fierce and unconditional.
Cheri was a loving sister, aunt, and grandmother and was survived by her brother Jack, many nieces and nephews, and 8 grandchildren.
Cheri had a rare and beautiful gift-she found people to care for wherever she went. Whether it was offering kindness to the homeless, helping the elderly, or lending a hand to someone in need, she made it her mission to love and serve others with grace and humility. Her door was open, her heart even more so.
She leaves behind a family who will carry her spirit forward with gratitude and love. Though our hearts are broken, and that her legacy of kindness lives on in those she touched.
A celebration of life will be held to honor her life. In lieu of flowers, please consider performing a small act of kindness in Cheri's memory, or find someone in need and invest in them-just as she so often did for others.
She loved quietly, gave deeply, and lived with purpose. She will be forever missed.
