Cheryl Nadine Diederich, 74, Greenleaf, left us on August 20, 2025 and is now present with the Lord.
A graveside funeral service was held at 10 a.m., Friday, August 29, 2025 at St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery, Kimeo, KS with Father David Metz officiating. Her granddaughter, Kylee sang "Amazing Grace (My Chains are Gone)."
Cheryl was born to Harold and Velma (Hamil) Dolezal on August 24, 1950 in Belleville, KS. She met John at a dance and they were married a year later on May 12, 1978 in Washington, KS. She loved her job at Twin Valley Development Services, where she worked for twenty-three years.
Cheryl loved gardening, canning, making floral arrangements, having lunch dates with friends and occasionally sneaking off to the casino with her partner in crime, Linda Huckett. But most of all, she loved her family. She has been happily married to John for forty-seven years and they really cherished their time together at home in retirement.
Cheryl hosted “Cousin Camp” in the summers for her grandchildren. She enjoyed hosting sleepovers, playing card games, planning holidays and any opportunity to spoil her family. She never forgot a birthday or anniversary.
Survivors include her husband, John; daughters, Denise, Tammy and Amy (Terry) Larson; son, Jeffery; grandchildren, Jordan (Bonnie), Kylee (Connor), Lily, Alexy, Summer, Rondre, Madison, Avery, Annie and Zane; six great grandchildren; and sister, Judy (George) Kappel.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Harold and Velma Dolezal; brother, Dale Dolezal; and grandson, Jude Larson.
A memorial fund has been established and will be designated later. Contributions may be sent in care of Ward Funeral Home, PO Box 157, Washington, KS 66968.
