Cheryl L. Leiser, age 67, of Oregon, OH, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 27, 2025 at the Gardens of St. Francis. She was born on March 2, 1958, in Oregon, Ohio, to John “Jack” and Doris (Schlamann) Emch.
A proud east sider and 1976 graduate of Waite High School, Cheryl went on to work for many years as a bank teller with Fifth Third Bank, primarily at the Woodville Mall branch.
Cheryl was an excellent softball catcher, playing all through high school. She was also an avid bowler. Cheryl was a devoted fan of the Denver Broncos and THE Ohio State Buckeyes. In her free time, she loved nothing more than spoiling her grandbabies, spending time with her family, lotto scratchers, and getting exercise with her brothers at Hollywood Casino.
She never met a stranger—her kindness, acceptance, and infectious sense of humor touched everyone she met. Above all, Cheryl always put her family first; they were truly her heart. In addition to her family, Cheryl had a special love and bond with her cat, Tilly.
Cheryl is survived by her children, JC (Laura) Leiser, Sara (Patrick) Lisk, and stepdaughter Michelle (Dale) Pelz; her beloved grandchildren, Garrett, Dane, Ryan, Rowan, and Griffin; her siblings, Cathy (Dave) DeShetler, Jackie Parman, John Emch Jr., Doug (Tonnalee) Emch, and Mike (Terrie) Emch; stepmother Carol (John) Emch, and her many nieces and nephews, who adored their Aunt Cher.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John “Jack” and Doris Emch, her husband Terry, and her cherished dogs Charlie and Louie, who surely greeted her with wagging tails.
The family would like to extend their deepest thanks to Dr. Nauman Shahid and Alyssa Koleda, whose compassion and exceptional care provided Cheryl with comfort and strength during her most challenging times. We also wish to acknowledge Dr. Khase Wilkinson and Hospice Matt for their care and contributions.
