It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Cheryl Ann McClure, on February 13, 2026, at the age of 77. Cheryl was surrounded in her final days by her loving husband and her devoted family.
Cheryl was born August 25, 1948 to Verley and Lola (Hacker) Lee in
Huntington, Indiana. A member of Huntington High School's Class of 1966, Cheryl attended Parkview Nursing School in nearby Fort Wayne and graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1969, along with a group of classmates, known as the GA, who remained close friends for nearly six decades.
In June of 1969, Cheryl married Larry Lefevere and started a family. Over the next few years, they welcomed daughter Deborah and twin sons James and Jeffrey into the world and later moved to South Bend, Indiana in 1979.
Cheryl's vocation as a nurse saw her specialize in gerontology and work with disabled individuals over the course of a career that led her to hospital settings, nursing homes, hospice care duties, and case management roles. She also took great personal enjoyment in mentoring young nursing students- especially Angie Meza, daughter of family friend Estelle Garcia- in her own final months.
The warm beaches around Siesta Key, Florida were a frequent destination, where memorable family vacations were spent toes in the sand, book in hand as a lifelong and passionate reader. But Cheryl's favorite place in the world was undoubtedly the family cottage on Webster Lake in north central Indiana. It was there that she spent the summers of her youth, returned often as a new mother, and then came back every chance she could to be with family and friends. An avid water skier back in the day, she took pride in encouraging her grandchildren to learn to ski those same waves.
Webster Lake was also where, while still in her teens, she met Michael McClure. Their young romance was the stuff of local legend until fate pulled them in different directions. But in true storybook fashion, the two would reconnect many years later and pick up right where they had left off. They finally married in 2009 and settled in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Cheryl would unabashedly call Mike the love of her life, and he would faithfully dote on her for the remainder of the time they shared together.
Cheryl is survived by her children Debbie and Todd Brock of Marietta, Georgia; Jim and Jody Lefevere of Carmel, Indiana; Jeff Lefevere of Carmel, Indiana; Scott and Karen McClure of Houston, Texas; and Keith and Mary McClure of Austin, Texas. She is also survived by the nine grandchildren she adored with a boundless heart: Ryan McClure, Sydney Brock, Libby Lefevere, Kendall Brock, Gigi Lefevere, Clinton McClure, Jonathan McClure, Susanne McClure, and Cooper Lefevere.
Honoring Cheryl's wishes, the family will commemorate her radiant life with a private celebration in summer 2026 in North Webster, Indiana. Donations in Cheryl's honor may be made to Texans on a Mission, North Texas Food Bank, Amish Relief Group or the World Food Kitchen.
