Cheryl Moschella (née Gardner) January 7, 1946 – March 28, 2025.
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Cheryl Moschella, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who passed away peacefully on March 28th at the age of 79 surrounded by her family.
Born on January 7, 1946, in Jersey City, NJ, to her loving parents, Carlton and Rose Gardner, Cheryl spent her youth in Jersey City. Growing up, she shared a special bond with her older brother, George, whom she adored. Cheryl always looked up to George and treasured their time as siblings. Their childhood was filled with love, laughter, and countless memories together.
Cheryl met the love of her life, Tony Moschella, at United Parcel Service, where she began her career as a secretary. Their love story led to marriage and, in 1969, a move to
Randolph, NJ, where they settled on Cedar Terrace. This neighborhood was a wonderful place to raise a family, and Cheryl made lifelong friendships there while creating a warm and loving home.
During this time, Cheryl was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Morris Plains, NJ, where her faith and love of community flourished.
As the children got older, Cheryl went back to work as a Human Resources Specialist for Sandoz Pharmaceuticals now Novartis in East Hanover, where she worked for 10 years before retiring with Tony.
Later in life, Cheryl and Tony embraced the sunny, active lifestyle of Port St. Lucie, Florida, spending eight months each year enjoying their well-earned retirement together. Her faith remained a cornerstone of her life, and she became an active member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Stuart, FL. Cheryl especially loved attending church services and joyfully singing every hymn on Sunday.
While living in Florida, Cheryl surprisingly took up golf to spend more time with her husband. What started as a way to be with Tony quickly became an important part of her life. She enjoyed it so much that she eventually became the head of the Ladies Golf Association at Santa Lucia Golf Club. Truth be told, Cheryl could take or leave the game itself-golf was simply the vehicle that allowed her to spend more time with Tony, her family, and her friends. The friendships she made over the years were incredibly special to her. She loved to play Canasta with her girlfriends on Wednesdays and would play tile Rummy with her grandkids for hours.
Cheryl's motto in life was simple: Be kind to each other. She often said, "It costs nothing to be nice to people." This philosophy shined through in everything she did, including on the golf course, where she always marked her golf ball with a smiley face. It became her signature, and everyone knew that if they found a ball with a smiley face, it belonged to Cheryl.
Cheryl's greatest joy was her family. She was selfless in her devotion to her loved ones, always giving her time and love freely. She is survived by her devoted husband of 59 years of marriage, Anthony Moschella, her loving children: Tony and his wife Carolyn, Joseph and his wife Tairran, Michael and his wife Liane, and Dina and her husband Douglas Collinson. She was a loving grandmother to Madison, Anthony, Dante, Joseph Jr., Michael, George, Benjamin, Nicholas, Ashley, and Grace as well as great-grandmother to Mason, Amelia, and Vincenzo. She is also survived by her beloved nephew, Mark Linnus, along with his wife Patty and their son Adam. Cheryl's kindness, warmth, and unwavering love for her family will be deeply missed but forever cherished in the hearts of those who knew her.
A Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 1, 2025 from 4-7pm at Tuttle Funeral Home in Randolph. A Service to celebrate Cheryl's life will be on Wednesday, April 2, 2025 at 10am also at the funeral home. Interment to follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Chester.
