Cheryl Petersen

1947 - 2026

Cheryl Petersen, 78, originally from Greenville and formerly of Trafford, passed away on Feb. 18, 2026. Cheryl was born on May 22, 1947, in Punxsutawney, the daughter of the late William and Thelma (Grube) Reesman. Cheryl found joy in life's simple and creative pleasures. She especially loved quilting, sewing, and crochet, finding comfort and purpose in creating things by hand. She and her husband purchased many houses during their marriage, which they enjoyed renovating. She was an active and dedicated member of the Greenville VFW Ladies Auxiliary, where she valued fellowship and service to others. After relocating to Trafford, she took pride in her time as a town council member. Cheryl also enjoyed the companionship of dogs and keeping up with her favorite soap operas. She adored her many years with her beloved late husband, Pete Petersen. Cheryl is survived by her son, David Britton; daughter, Lisa Trepasso; stepdaughter, Michelle Petersen; her grandchildren, Sonia Snider, Stewart Snider, David Howard, and Matthew Howard; and her great-grandchildren, Henry and Theodore Howard. There will be no visitation, and all services will be private. JOHN M.
