Cheryl "Renee" Wagner passed away on Saturday, January 28th, 2023, at the age of 61 at Novant Health Matthews Medical Center peacefully, with family at her side.
Born in Shelbyville, Tennessee on December 26th, 1961, Renee is preceded in death by her brother Terry Carey. She is survived by her daughter Brittany Wagner Martin of Locust, North Carolina and grandchildren Rylan, Easton, Everleigh, and Jensen Martin. She is also survived by her sisters Karen Beech Register and Teresa Beech of Shelbyville, Tennessee.
Known for her kind and bubbly personality, Renee was a resident of Matthews, North Carolina for the past 24 years where you would find her cheering on the Butler Bulldogs many Friday nights. Renee was a mother to all, and never met a stranger. She tended to make you feel at ease with her genuine and thoughtful authenticity. She always enjoyed being "the house" to host all her daughter's friends and could always cheer you up and make you smile. She had a beautiful laugh, and even more beautiful heart. Renee was a follower of our Lord, and admired Billy Graham and his teachings.
Renee was a dedicated worker and worked diligently to achieve her goals. She joined the Air Force in 1983 where she met Brittany's father Wayne Wagner. Renee worked in the special intelligence unit often de-coding military messages. She enjoyed an adventure and loved a challenge.
Renee then went on to work as a large loss insurance adjuster for Nationwide, and most recently Pure Insurance. She was well liked by her clients and would always go the extra mile for her customers. Before working in insurance, Renee was project manager at Paul Davis Restoration in Charlotte for several years, where she formed many connections and lifelong friendships. She enjoyed cooking, reading, spending time with friends and family, animals, traveling, crafts, and outdoor gardening/projects. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy, and she loved spoiling them and loving on them every second she could. Her biggest passion in life was certainly being a mother, and grandmother or "nay-nay" as her grandchildren fondly called her.
To honor Renee, there will be a celebration of life and love on one of her favorite holidays, Valentine's Day. The service will take place Tuesday, February 14th at 10:00 a.m. at the Hickory Grove Baptist Church chapel located at 7200 E. WT Harris Blvd, Charlotte, NC 28215 with Dr. John Harrill presiding.
Renee's family has given Lowe-Neddo Funeral Home the privilege of caring for her and for them during this difficult time. The family requests that in lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contributions may be directed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital www.stjude.org or the American Liver Foundation. www.liverfoundation.org
