Chester A. "Chet" Boggs, 74, of Springfield, died on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy.
He was born on July 6, 1947 in Springfield, the son of Corwin Sr. and Estella (Shandor) Boggs.
Chet attended Iles High School. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during Vietnam receiving the Army Commendation Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Air Medal, Marksman M-16 award, Sharp Shooter M-14 award, Vietnam Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal and the Bronze Star Medal. Chet went on to work for the Springfield Park District, from which he retired. He was a member of St. Katherine Drexel Parish at St. Patrick Church, and a lifetime member of Disabled American Veterans. Chet was known for being quiet-natured and enjoyed spending time with friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Dorothy and Margaret Boggs; brothers, Corky and David Boggs; and daughter, Tammy Boggs.
Chet is survived by his daughter, Amanda Sue Boggs of Springfield; one granddaughter; two grandsons; siblings, Beraldine Errett, Irene Harper, Grace McGlothlin and Rose (George) Smith, all of Springfield; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Cremation was provided by Lincoln Land Cremation Society.
