Chester A. Guyer, Jr. 95, entered into rest on September 5, 2025 at Normandie Ridge after a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Dawn M. (Godfrey) Guyer.

He was born March 16, 1930 in York. The son of the late Chester A. Guyer, Sr. and Edna A. Spangler, and his late stepmother Beatrice (Bupp) Guyer.

He was a 1949 graduate of York High. He was a US Navy veteran and also retired from the US Air Force Reserves. He was the oldest living retired York City Policeman. He also worked and retired from Caterpillar.

Chet had been active in many local organizations including the West York VFW Post 8591, Shiloh Legion Post 791, and the Korean War Veterans. He was an avid Penn State and Baltimore Orioles Fan.

He is survived by two daughters Katherine A. Golihew of Mt. Wolf and Suellen M. Kurnik and her husband Jim of Windsor, nine grandchildren: Jason Golihew, Chrissee Curtis (Brant), Michele Guyer, William Golihew (Emily), Carol Golihew, Kayla Kurnik, Jimmy Kurnik,Jr., Annette Kurnik, and Erika Kurnik, and nine great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Alan E. Guyer, two sisters Shirley Hummer and Romaine Blessing; and a companion Elisabeth Gilbert.

A private graveside service will be at the convenience of the family. The John W. Keffer Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 902 Mt. Rose Ave. York is assisting with arrangements.
