Chester Raymond Lewis Jr.

1954 - 2023

Chester Raymond Lewis Jr., 68, of Yulee, Fla., passed away on Monday, Jan. 23, 2023, at Baptist Medical Center of Jacksonville.
Born on Feb. 16, 1954, in Jacksonville, Fla., to the late Chester Lewis and Betty Rodda Lewis, he grew up in Yulee, Fla., and graduated from Fernandina Beach High School in 1972. After graduating with an Associate Degree from Florida Junior College, he married Kathy Williams Lewis in 1975.
After graduation, Raymond began working for a Timber Company as a truck driver. In November of 1981, the couple welcomed one child into their home. Raymond's son remembers him as a dedicated and loving father who always encouraged them to pursue their goals.
Raymond was as quirky and witty individual who loved collecting World War II memorabilia and who was passionate about his family.
Raymond is preceded in death by his wife of 22 years, Kathy Williams Lewis, who passed away in December of 1997, and his parents, Chester Lewis (2009) and Betty Rodda Lewis (2007).
He leaves behind his son, Joshua Lewis (Allison); four siblings, Dianne Haymans, Robert "Bobby" Lewis, Cathy Lewis (Ralph Green) and Sandra Shelton (Jimmy); sister-in-law, Becky Snead (Johnny); and numerous nieces and nephews, longtime friend Laverne Jacobs and fur baby Chrissy.
Graveside funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2023, at Hughes Cemetery, where he will also be laid to rest beside his wife and parents.
The family will receive friends from noon until the hour of the service at Hughes Cemetery.
Donations may be made in his memory to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
