Chester McCrackin

Chester McCrackin, 85, passed away on Tuesday, November 11, 2025. He was born in Columbus County, North Carolina, on December 21, 1939, to parents Thomas Carl McCrackin and Essie May McCrackin. Chester was a devoted husband and family man. For 55 years, he dedicated his career as a proud union boilermaker. He was also a certified high-pressure welder.
Outside of work, he found his greatest joy in spending time fishing and playing with his beloved grandchildren. Chester was known for his easygoing nature, warm sense of humor, and generous heart. He would help anyone any way he could. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Chester is survived by his sons, Thomas Craig (Sondra) McCrackin, Steven Wayne (Donna) McCrackin; grandchildren, Stacy McCrackin, Cassidy McCrackin, Stevilyn Davis Jenkins; great grandchildren, Haven Cook, Jaxson Thomas Jenkins, Jett Trowbridge, Alaina Davison, Jaxson Trowbridge, Makayla Trowbridge; and sister Irene Rice.
He is predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Brenda McCrackin; and sisters Brenda Lou McCrackin, Linda Odom.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at 3:00pm at Goldfinch Funeral Home in Loris. A visitation will be held an hour before, from 2:00-3:00pm. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Nichols.
