Chet was the reason I chose Stonehill for my college to attend. I took 4 classes that he taught while attending school there and he was an amazing professor!

Chet was a colleague and dear friend of my late husband Dr. Ray Pepin.
My sons were privileged to have him as a Professor and he was admired by all as a Professor and friend. He meant so much to so many.

In the 70's, I caught just a bit of Chet's passion for the natural world, and it has enriched all the years of my life. What a gift he gave me.

Dr. Raymo was my professor 44 years ago. His inspirational teaching was key to my choice of vocation. Being a teacher of 35 years I often think back to Dr. Raymo's enthusiasm and strive to reflect what he inspired to my students. I often look up at the night sky with wonder and think of him.

Professor Raymo taught me astronomy at Stonehill back in 1977. To this day, I remember going out on cold winter evenings looking at the sky and learning from him, not just what the names of stars were but appreciation, love and care of this great Universe in which we are on a 'pale, blue dot' as Carl Sagan reminded us. And when I see in the night sky now, I smile and think of his teaching and the great professor he was for me. God Speed, Professor!!

Chet was brilliant, inspiring, and fun! A charismatic teacher who taught my husband and our son and who infected his students with his love of the earth and the universe. A colleague who teased me about the myriads of terms my Botany students had to learn to be able to key out plants! And a great friend to my husband, whom he supported when my husband needed it the most. When George died five years ago, Chet´s note to me was one I will treasure forever. Thank you, Chet, for modelling outstanding teaching, writing, and collegiality and for your legacy of books and Science Musings.
