Chester Zimmerman Obituary
He was born March 12, 1937, at Ford, Kansas the son of Chester Ross, Sr. and Helen (Steele) Zimmerman. He was a 1955 graduate of Mullinville High School and received his associate's degree from Dodge City Community College. He went to work at Boeing while farming 10 miles north of Mullinville, Kansas, where he was a lifetime area resident. He retired to Rosanky, Texas in 2014 and returned to Kansas a few years later. In 2019 he moved to Wichita, Kansas but continued with farming connections in Kiowa County.
He was a member of the Christian Church in Bucklin, Kansas as well as the Odd Fellows. As a teenager he was highly active in 4-H which had a significant impact on his life.
On October 1, 1993, he married Vera Hollomon-Walston at Hot Springs, Arkansas. She survives.
Other survivors include: 5 children, Natalie Garcia and husband Chris, of Bucklin, Kansas; Teresa Moyer of Aurora, Colorado; Cindy Osborn and husband Doug of Colorado; Kirk Walston, Bucklin, Kansas; and Abbie Walston of Wichita, Kansas; 20 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; a sister, Onnallee Zimmerman and husband Richard Mason of Fresno, California.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 siblings.
Funeral service will be at 2:00 pm Monday, September 8, 2025, at the Mullinville United Methodist Church with Scott Tilley officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery, Mullinville. Visitation will be Monday from 1:00 pm to service time at the church.
The family suggests memorials to Home Health & Hospice of Kansas in care of Minnis Mortuary, 1901 N. 14th Ave., Dodge City, Kansas 67801.
