Cheyenne Chanel Cross, 21, of Billings, died tragically on Saturday, April 26, 2008, of injuries sustained in a car-semi-truck accident near Crow Agency.
Meo Nestohohe'e "Morning Caller" was born March 19, 1987, in Clinton, Okla., a daughter of Alberta Nightwalker and Frank Cross. She was a member of the Cheyenne-Arapaho-Caddo-Kiowa Tribes. She grew up and attended schools in the Oklahoma until the fifth grade, when she moved to Ashland and completed her education with graduation from St. Labre High School in 2005. As a young girl, she preformed in traditional jingle and shawl dances and was later a member of the St. Labre Dance Troupe. While in high school, she actively participated in basketball as the teams' point guard. In her spare time, she worked at the St. Labre Mission Museum. After the birth of her son, KaShawn, she became a stay-at-home mom.
Her grandparents, Roy, Gladys and Alexis Nightwalker, George Walkingnight and Latisha Brien preceded Cheyenne in death.
Survivors include her son, KaShawn; her mother, Alberta Nightwalker (Garrett Door, Sr.); her father, Frank Cross; brothers, Bird Nightwalker, PFC Adrian and Anthony Cross; grandparents, Agnes Sapehaudle and LaVern Cross; godparents, William Cummins-Windyboy, Theran and Jessica Fulton; her namesake, Damian Cheyenne Brien; aunts, Leda Walking Night, Peggy (John) Yazzie, Jean and Jane Nightwalker, Alvina (Daniel) Limberhand, Edith (George) Littlehead and Katherine Foote; uncles Fred and George Nightwalker; her extended family, including Limpy, Looks Behind, Braded Hair, Killsnight, Strange Owl, Elk Shoulder, Bellymule, Sandcrane, Redneck, Pine, Cross, Sapaehaudle, Williams and Redhat families; as well as numerous brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, grandpas, grandmas and friends from all over the United States.
Traditional wake services will be held 7 p.m. Thursday, May 1, at the St. Labre Mission Church. Joint funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, May 2, in the St. Labre High School Gymnasium. Interment will follow in the Mission Cemetery. Bullis Mortuary of Hardin has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Auntie Alberta and Family,
We are praying for you and the baby and the rest of the family. We are so sorry we could not be there for the funeral. Cheyenne will truly be missed, we know she is in Heaven looking down and watching over us. I enjoyed the little visit I had with her over the phone. Cheyenne, heaven must be wonderful, I know you are there for you had heart that only Jesus could have blessed you with. I was blessed to be your teacher, the respect you show me then and now that you became a mom when we would run into each other there was always a big hug, I will miss you.
