Chieko Bernard, (nee Kawabe), age 89 of Leonia passed on to eternal life on April 25, 2025 to join the love of her life Nicholas Xavier. They were married for over 53 years before his passing. She was born in Fukuaka City, Japan and came to the United States in 1955.
Chieko worked for Robinson and Anton Textile in Farview for over 25 years. She will always be remembered for the love of her family, music, gardening and beautiful spirit.
Chieko is survived by her three beloved daughters, Pauline Giaccio, Carol Dross and Arlene Bernard. Proud grandmother of Edward (Bridget), Lauren, Stanley (Ashley), Eric (Jennifer), and Stephanie. She adored and loved beyond measure her 13 great grandchildren. Chieko is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.
The family expresses a special thank you to her aide and beloved friend, Miledi, who was always by her side during this very difficult time.
