Chris Chomicki

Chris A. Chomicki, a devoted husband, father, teacher, and friend who lived life with humor and heart, passed away at the age of 60 on November 6, 2025, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He was a lifelong resident of Oak Creek, Wisconsin, where he shared his days with the people and passions he loved most.

Chris was born on November 26, 1964, to his loving parents, Benon B. and MaryAnn (Lewandowski) Chomicki, who have both preceded him in death. He was the cherished husband of Christine M. Chomicki (Champagne), his wife and lifelong companion, who shared 36 wonderful years by his side; the proud and loving dad of Joshua (Megan Tennant) and Zachary Chomicki; and the doting “Doggy Daddy” to Sky and the late Sommer.

He was the adored son-in-law of Leslie (late) and Ione (Armbruster) Champagne; the beloved brother of Dale (Kim) Howser, Benon Michael (late Shari) Chomicki, and Kim (Bob) Dros; and the treasured brother-in-law of Gail (Dave) Prohaska and Dale (Michele) Champagne.

Chris was also a proud uncle to Dale (Tippanie) Howser Jr., Bob (Shannon) Prohaska, Jenny (Andrew) Palmgren, Matt (Cassie) Prohaska, Jason (Lisa) Howser, Nicholas Champagne, Kaitlyn Dros, and Jacob Dros, and will be warmly remembered by many other relatives and friends too numerous to name.

Chris earned an Associate in Applied Science – Technical Studies (Journey Worker) from MATC and a Bachelor of Arts in Business Management from Ottawa University. His expertise led to a distinguished career at Milwaukee Area Technical College’s School of Technology and Applied Sciences, where he served as Instructional Chair, taught Machine Tool and Swiss/Screw Machine courses, and worked with students in the Uniquely Abled Academy, helping others develop confidence and skill in the trades. He was deeply respected by his students and colleagues alike, known for his patience, precision, and talent for explaining even the most technical concepts in a way others could understand.

Earlier in his career, Chris worked as a Process Engineer for Rockwell Automation and as a Journeyman Toolroom Machinist at Briggs & Stratton Corporation, experiences that grounded his teaching in real-world expertise and a deep appreciation for craftsmanship.

Chris was sharp-witted and funny, with a heart as big as his laugh. He balanced a meticulous, focused work ethic with a generous and compassionate spirit. He found joy in teaching, fishing, camping, boating, muscle cars, car shows, gardening, and attending festivals for live music whenever he could. When he wasn’t under the hood of a car or immersed in one of his many projects, he loved sitting down for a good meal — from prime rib and crab legs to tacos and the “Flavor of the Day” at his favorite custard stands. He also enjoyed the occasional trip to the casino, and carrying his mother’s luck, often left smiling.

But more than anything, Chris was passionate about his family, friends, and his thirst for life. He remained active until he left us, enjoying each day to the fullest and touching the hearts and souls of everyone who knew him — through his innate sense of humor, his quirky grin, and that inner light that will forever burn to guide those of us he left behind… far too soon.
