Chris Ronquillo Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Sterling & Smith Funeral Directors Inc. - Tulare on Mar. 13, 2026.
Chris Anthony Ronquillo gained his wings and joined his beloved Lord on Sunday, February 22, 2026. He entered this life on March 27, 1957, in Orange, California, to Angelina Martinez Ronquillo.

Chris lived a life full of adventure and love. In his early years, his hobbies consisted of anything and everything related to cars and racing, including racing his VW Bugs. Chris met his wife, Becky, and moved to Tulare, California, in 1987 to begin their lives together. Together, they raised three girls: Melissa, Maglynn (Maggie), and Allyson.

Chris passed on his love of racing and cars to his daughter Maggie at the age of two, teaching her to name engine parts. A racing community was built when Chris introduced the girls to quarter-midget racing, with Maggie continuing on to Jr. Sprints. Not long after racing, Chris's daughter Allyson brought him into the fight world as she ventured into martial arts, while Maggie boxed with Delano PAL. Chris then met Hector Alatorre, who quickly became a son to him. As Chris became more invested in the fight community through Hector, his passion continued to grow. Together, Chris and Allyson designed the business that became FUNews. This marked the start of Chris's beloved role as the "cameraman," known for his backward hat at ringside and cageside.

Chris's daughter Maggie later met DeAndre Goree, who also became another son to Chris. DeAndre was soon included in all of Chris's adventures-from sand drags and quads to even being put in the ring himself. Chris was then blessed with two grandsons, DeAnthony and Braylen Goree, who were his pride and joy.

In 2015, the adventures with FUNews slowly faded as Chris began his fight with kidney failure and started dialysis. His backward hat became a fedora-style hat to cover the changes dialysis brought. Chris did his best to continue attending, promoting, and putting on fights, while still showing up for his grandsons' football games. As dialysis took its toll, extra activities had to stop, but Chris never missed an update on his fighters or a televised match. The fighting community brought Chris countless friends who became family, too many to name.

In the week prior to his passing, Chris entered his final fight. He was determined to beat kidney failure before it beat him. He came to terms with his Lord and was given the sign and the Lord's word that he had fought the good fight, and it was time for him to rest. Those who knew Chris knew he was a planner. He planned to wait for Passover, believing the Lord would come for him then. He was right. Chris passed peacefully, surrounded by love, family, and friends.

Chris has entered heaven to be with his four angel grandbabies (children of Allyson); his mother, Angelina Ronquillo; and his brothers, sisters, cousins, and other relatives.

Chris is survived by his wife, Becky Ronquillo, and their daughters: Melissa and her four children; Maggie and her two sons; and Allyson. He is also survived by his bonus sons, Hector (Rocio) and their four children, DeAndre Goree, and Brian Viera, along with many cousins he considered brothers and sisters, nieces, nephews, and friends who will always be family.
