Christel Cornacchio

Christel (Bartsch) Cornacchio passed away on Friday, January 10, 2025 at her daughter's residence in Allentown, PA. She was 83. Christel was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Bridgeport and a former member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Bridgeport, PA. For over 25 years she worked at Commonwealth Federal Savings Bank / Citizens, retiring as Branch Sales Manager/Asst. Treasurer.
In retirement, she enjoyed spending time with family and friends as well as working in her yard gardening. Christel also enjoyed helping others through her volunteer work at Martha's Food Pantry and her church. Her greatest joy, however, came from spending time with her grandchildren and showering them with love.
Born in Stuttgart, Germany on May 28, 1941, she was a daughter of the late Wilhelm and Hildegard (Kraus) Bartsch. Christel is the wife of the late Benito "Ben" J. Cornacchio who died in 2021.
Surviving is her loving family including a son, John Backetti; 3 daughters, Donna Statuti, Angela Differ (Tony), and Regina Wannemacher (Brad); 2 stepsons: Mark Cornacchio and Steven Cornacchio (Diana); 3 grandchildren, E.J. Backetti (Danielle Gambone), Sarah Hittinger (Matthew Taitelman), and Abigail Bateman (Jon); 6 great-grandchildren: Gianna, Enzo, Jesse, Fiona, Wynne, and Rhys; a sister, Yolanda Schleicher (Rolf); a cousin, Gutrun Müller (Rudi); a niece; a nephew; and many other loving family members and friends.
Christel is preceded in death by her grandson, Timothy Wannemacher
Relatives and friends are invited to Christel's viewing at Sacred Heart Church, 120 Jefferson St., Bridgeport, PA 19405 on Friday, January 17, 2025 from 9am to 10:15am, with her Funeral Mass starting at 10:30am. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in W. Conshohocken, PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to any Children's Charity of donors choice in Christel's memory.
