LOWVILLE-Christina Collins, 85, formerly of West Road, Lowville, passed away Friday morning, October 17, 2025 at the home of her oldest son Michael Collins in Syracuse NY where she had been living for the past four years.
A funeral Mass will be said at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 24, 2025 at St. Hedwig's Catholic Church, Houseville with Rev. Sony G. Pulickal, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Martinsburg Cemetery. Calling hours are from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday October 23, 2025 at Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., 5702 Waters Road,

She is survived by her ten children and their spouses, Micheal and Theresa Collins of Syracuse, Mary and Jose Interiano of Croghan, Brigid and Thomas Fayle of Lowville, David Collins of Albany, William and Jaznia Collins of Forest Hills, James Collins of Lowville, Danny and Katie Collins of Buffalo, John and Sammy Collins of Rome, Kathleen and David Orth of Eaton, Lymen Mecca Collins and Angel Rounds of Port Leyden; 24 grandchildren; a brother Joe Noonan of Co. Clare Ireland; nieces, nephews and cousins. She is predeceased by her three brothers and one sister Mehaul Noonan, Sr. Moira Noonan, Seamus Noonan, and John Noonan.
Christina was born in Knockbeha, Caher, Feakle, Co. Clare Ireland to James and Mary (Walsh) Noonan on Dec. 27th 1939. Christina dedicated her younger years studying with the nuns with aspiration of joining the convent. She ultimately choose a different path. She emigrated to America when she was 17 years old sponsored by an aunt who lived in Cleveland Ohio. She worked as a waitress at Stouffer's Restaurant until her sponsorship was paid off, and then moved to Brooklyn NY where she met her husband David Collins. On November 19, 1966, she married David Collins at Our Lady of Angel's Catholic Church, Brooklyn, NY with Father Phillips, officiating. The couple farmed in Middletown, NY for eight years and then moved to the farm on the West Road in Lowville in 1985. Together, with his wife, owned and operated the dairy farm until 2002. Christina actively worked on the farm milking, feeding and bookkeeping. Christina was a wonderful cook and her family enjoyed a homecooked meal every night.
Christina was a communicant of St. Peter's Catholic Church and then St. Hedwig Church in Houseville. She was an active community and church member and gave her time generously and volunteered helping seniors, cooking meals, all while wearing a smile and connecting with people. She built strong friendships with her Mennonite and Amish neighbors. These friendships were rooted by their shared values of hard work, simple living, family and faith in God.
Christina was blessed with many children, and that love extended beyond her immediate family. As her children grew older Christina welcomed more than 12 children into their home. With the support of her family she became a registered foster care provider. The values Christina exemplified in her home, including unwavering faithfulness and commitment to marriage, were lovingly passed down to her children, serving as a testimony to her legacy.
