Christina Tate Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Curlew Hills Memory Gardens Funeral Home on Feb. 11, 2026.
Christina A. Tate, 85, of Palm Harbor, Florida, passed away peacefully with her children by her side on February 8, 2026 at Westchester Gardens Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Christina (Chris, Chrissy) was born on May 20, 1940 to parents Michael and Christina (Ryan) Mullane. Both parents immigrated to NYC from Limerick City, Ireland.

Christina grew up in NYC during the Great Depression and lost her mother when she was only 11 years old. She was the youngest and only girl of 6 children and is the last sibling to join her 5 brothers in eternal rest: Leo, Thomas, James, Kevin and Daniel.

In May of 1967, she married the love of her life, Harold C. Tate Jr., and enjoyed 32 years of marriage until his death in 1999.

During her lifetime, Christina always worked in settings that would serve others. In NY, she worked for Jewish Memorial Hospital until it closed. She then moved onto New York Columbia Presbyterian Hospital where she continued to make an impact. As Dad always teased, she was "The Mayor" wherever she was. Her servitude did not end when she moved to Florida. She continued to work part time for the City of Oldsmar where she developed life long friendships and cherished every moment there.

She is survived by her two children: Adrian Tate, New Port Richey, Florida and Susan Tate-Potanovic, Wilmington, NC. She is also survived by her grandchildren Shannon King-Jennings, Christina King, Joseph Harold Potanovic and great-granddaughter Makenna Rose Jennings.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30am on Thursday, February 12, 2026 at St. Luke Catholic Church, Palm Harbor, Florida.

My Beautiful Friend Chris. I'll always cherish the time I got to spend with you at work and our lunches with the girls! There was never a time where we didn't laugh until we cried! You had all of us in stitches. You had the best sense of humor and really loved your friends fiercely! We all loved you back as well! Thank you for all the good times, good love and good friendship. You will always live on in our hearts!

Oh how I will miss Chris! We became friends also in 2000 working for the City of Oldsmar. We went on road trips, concerts, murder mystery trains. She was always the life of the party. She made me laugh more than anyone else could. Until we meet again!

My deepest condolences to you, Adrian and Susan. Chris was a one of a kind person with a heart of gold. You always knew where you stood with her which I appreciated. We met at work in 2000 and became fast friends ... a friendship that endured for over 25 years. We weathered many changes together including 3 City Clerks, 3 City Managers, 6 Mayors, and many City Council members, and neither one of us was a fan of change! I will miss her so very much.
