Christina Washington

Christina Louis Washington, 81, of Lewes, Delaware, passed away peacefully on November 8, 2025, at Kline Hospice House surrounded by her family. She was born July 7, 1944, to the late Christina Sims and George Austin in St. Louis, Missouri.

Christina was known for her unwavering kindness and her wonderful sense of humor. A devoted mother and grandmother, she helped raise her two grandchildren and was a constant source of love, support, and guidance for her family. She dedicated many years to federal service in Washington, D.C., before retiring and enjoying her later life near Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.

Christina found immense joy in her church community. She loved her church dearly and spent years supporting it-most often in the kitchen, where she cooked with care and devotion for countless events and gatherings. After moving to Delaware, she continued her commitment to faith and fellowship, becoming an active and cherished member of her local church.

She will be remembered for her warm heart, her gentle humor, the stories she loved to share, and the deep, steady love she carried for her children and grandchildren. Her family and all who knew her will forever hold close memories of her kindness, laughter, and generous spirit.

She is survived by her children, Donna Bailey and Duane Dunham; grandchildren, Marlon Hoy and Breanna Bailey; great-grandchildren, Brandon Hoy, Aiden Jennings, and Leyla Hoy; sister, Valerie Austin; and a host of family and friends. Christina was preceded in death by her: husband, Lawarnce Washington.
