Christine “Kris” Barnes, 73, of Indianapolis, IN, passed away October 24, 2025. She was born and raised in Indianapolis, IN, but also resided in San Francisco, CA for about seven years, during the 1970’s and 1980’s. While in CA, she designed and sold jewelry. Upon her return to Indianapolis, she attended Indiana University, graduating magna cum laude, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. She went on to become a Certified Public Accountant and worked 18 years for the US Government, Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS). While employed by the US Govt DFAS, she received many awards and was well-respected by her superiors and colleagues. Christine was a peaceful, loving person, who enjoyed gardening and spending time with her pets, before she became ill. She spent her final years happily, with many friends to keep her company and excellent loving care at Rosewalk at Lutherwoods Assisted Living.
Christine was preceded in death by her parents, Richard B., Sr. and Virginia D. Zink, ne’e Geisler; brothers Richard B., Jr, Timothy D. (Caryl C), Daniel P., Paul A., Joseph R. (Rebecca), and John E. Zink; and sister, Nancy E. Zink. She is survived by her brother, Michael C. Zink, and her sister, Mary L. Newcomb, along with 6 nieces and nephews.
