Christine M. Calkins

Christine Marie Calkins, age 59, of Nokomis, Florida and Westbrook, Connecticut, passed away surrounded by love, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, compassion, and unforgettable spirit.

Christine was a devoted mother, sister, aunt, and friend who brought light and humor wherever she went. She is lovingly survived by her son, Elijah Robert Jones (Kimberly Fritsche) of Nokomis, FL; her sisters, Cheryleen Marie Calkins of Venice, FL and Laureen Marie DeLucco and family of North Port, FL; her beloved nieces and nephews, Cory J. Hallahan (Mallory) of Salem, CT; Cydney Marie Hallahan (Matthew) of Deming, WA; Brittney Lynn Hallahan (Christopher) of Westbrook. She also leaves behind her beloved "Purple," Karen Benz of Nokomis, FL, along with many, many special and cherished friends and her treasured Talon Preserve ladies who cared for her so lovingly over the past several years. Cheryl and Eli extend their deepest gratitude to all who supported and loved Christine.

Christine was preceded in death by her mother and stepfather, Elaine Marie and Gerald N. Peyton of Cape Coral, FL; her father, Phillip Reed Calkins of Cape Coral, FL; her brother, Adam Calkins of Daytona, FL; and her dearly beloved nephew, Christopher Francis Hallahan of Westbrook, CT.

Throughout her life, Christine embraced many professional roles, including working in an orthopedic office and as a dental technician for an orthodontist. However, her most cherished work was as a paraprofessional supporting children with special needs - a role that reflected her compassionate heart and deep love for helping others.

Christine had an extraordinary gift for making people laugh. Her playful antics and comedian-like accents often left friends and family in tears of laughter. She found joy in the sunshine, loved spending time at the beach collecting her coveted shark teeth, and was a devoted fan of 80's music - especially her beloved Duran Duran.

The family would also like to extend heartfelt thanks to the compassionate staff at Florida Cancer Specialists, who treated Christine like family and provided such loving care.

Christine will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved her for her humor, warmth, and the happiness she brought into every room.

A Celebration of Life will be held on February 22, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Farley Funeral Home, 265 S. Nokomis Avenue, Venice, Florida. All who knew and loved Christine are welcome to attend and celebrate her beautiful life.
