Christine Elizabeth Hall

Christine Elizabeth Hall best known as "Chris", "Mama" or "Sally" was born in New Haven, Connecticut on September 25, 1947, to Ann Chambers and the late Ernest Carbral. Chris spent her formative years in New Haven and was a proud graduate of James Hillhouse High School.

Chris went on to dedicate more than 50 years to a career in healthcare, serving others with compassion and professionalism. Her career included many years at Yale-lNew Haven Hospital beginning in 1976, and later at the Hospital of St. Raphael's starting in 2003. Her work was not just a job-it was a calling, and she fulfilled it with grace and commitment.

Chris had a vibrant spirit and many passions. She loved traveling, listening to gospel music, cooking, dancing, entertaining, and shopping. She was especially known for her joyful hosting of Sunday dinners and Christmas parties, where family and friends gathered to share food, laughter, and love. Her home was always open, and her table was always full.

A devoted woman of faith, Chris was a faithful member of Varick AME Zion Church, where she proudly served on the Usher Board. She was well loved for her kindness, welcoming smile, and great sense of humor, which could brighten any room.

Chris passed away peacefully, surrounded by love, under the watchful and devoted care of her loving daughter, Tonja Carbral. Chris lived a life rooted in faith, family, and service, leaving an indelible mark on all who were blessed to know her.

Chris leaves to cherish her memory her loving mother, Ann Chambers of Hamden, Connecticut; brother, Andrew Carbral of Georgia; devoted daughter, Tonja Carbral; a special son, Charles Traylor of Arkansas; grandchildren Tiara Dunlap, Amber Sargent, Lamont Sargent, Ashley Sargent, and Tracy Lyons, Jr; five great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.

Chris was preceded in death by her husband, Lorenza "Larry" Hall; daughter, Tammy Sargent; father, Ernest Carbral; grandmother, Dollie Mae Robinson Covington; sister, Ernestine Carbral; and her pet-child, Brandy.

Chris lived a life defined by love. Her heart was open to everyone, and her presence had a way of making people feel instantly welcomed, valued, and embraced as family. She loved deeply, gave selflessly, and never missed an opportunity to show kindness. Her legacy will live on through the many lives she touched.
