CHRISTINE K. NIEDZWIECKI, age 91, of Thorp, WI, passed away peacefully with family by her side as the sun rose on Easter Sunday, April 20, 2025, at Clark County Rehab & Living Center in Owen, WI. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11am on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at St. Mary of Czestochowa Catholic Church in Junction, rural Stanley, WI. Rev. Stanislaus Michael Antony will officiate, and burial will follow in the parish cemetery. The Pallbearers will be: Matt Mulligan, Paul Mulligan, Ben Niedzwiecki, Nick Niedzwiecki, Isaac Niedzwiecki, Zachary Niedzwiecki, Ethan Wright, and Josh Wright. Visitation will be at the church on Tuesday from 10am until the time of service, with a rosary service at 9:45am.
Christine Kathleen Nowobielski was born on August 27, 1933, in Thorp, WI, the daughter of Andrew and Catherine (Wnek) Nowobielski. She was raised on the family farm and received her education in the Thorp area, graduating from Thorp High School in 1951. After graduation, Chris worked as a stenographer at Foremost Blue Moon Cheese until her marriage to Michael Niedzwiecki on September 29, 1956, at St. Hedwig's Catholic Church in Thorp. They resided in Thorp, where she was a homemaker and raised their six children. Chris returned to the workforce in the early 1980s as a C.N.A. at Oakbrook Health & Rehab in Thorp, where she worked for 27 years until her retirement.
She was a member of St. Bernard-St. Hedwig's Catholic Church and St. Mary of Czestochowa, where she was regularly active in the PCCW, and sang in the Polish Choir. Chris did adoration every week, was a member of the Red Hat Society, and was a former 4-H Leader.
Chris had many interests and especially enjoyed bowling, cheering on the Milwaukee Brewers, visiting the casino, and traveling.
She will be dearly missed by her children: Kathleen (Patrick) Mulligan of Eau Claire, WI, Adam (Bonnie) Niedzwiecki of Thorp, WI, Abe (Elizabeth) Niedzwiecki of Athens, AL, Michael (Brigitte) Niedzwiecki of Eau Claire, WI, Mary (Terry) Wright of Fall Creek, WI; 14 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; her twin sister, Joanne Rademaker of Thorp, WI; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Chris was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Michael, on February 11, 2002; one son, Andrew, on September 17, 2024; four brothers: Joseph, Henry "Hank", Leon, and Clarence Nowobielski; and two sisters: Frances Larkowski and Marie Baginski.
