Christine Smith, age 90, passed away July 7, 2025 at her home in Sikeston, MO.
She was born January 15, 1935 in Ridgley, TN, daughter of the late Flaudie White and Lillian Spence-White.
On November 27, 1951 she was married to Floyd Smith, he preceded her in death.
Christine was a member of Canalou Assembly of God and had been a cook and baker for Susie's Bake Shop for 30 years before retiring. She was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, wife, mother, and nana. She was a kind, giving, nurturing woman who always helped out those who were in need. She loved the Lord as well as her family with all of her heart. In her spare time you could find her playing with her great grandchildren (Taylor & Maverick) having the time of her life or wanting to go get a sweet treat at Dairy Queen to get a snickers blizzard or a strawberry sundae. She was well known for making the best sweet tea, amazing chicken & dumplings, and delicious desserts. She had a smile and laugh that could brighten any room. A smile and laugh that will be missed dearly, but never forgotten. She is an angel now wearing her wings and halo. More beautiful than ever, in her white gown. Watching over us from heaven.
She is survived by one daughter, Crissie (Steve) Joyce of Sikeston, MO; her granddaughter, Tori (James) Britton of Sikeston, MO; her great-grandchildren, Taylor Britton and Maverick Britton; two brothers, Bill (Jeannie) White of Union, MO and Jimmy (Georgia) White of Herrin, IL; two sisters, Sheila Gee of Sikeston, MO and Jeannie White of Clarksville, TN; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, Christine was preceded in death by her siblings, Judy Waters, Larry Gene White, James Lee White, Sam White, Kenneth White, and Daniel White.
Visitation will be held Saturday, July 12, from 11:00 a.m. until time of funeral services at 1:00 p.m. at Ponder Funeral Home. Mike Cartwright, pastor of Canalou Assembly of God, will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Sikeston Garden of Memories Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Steve Joyce, James Britton, Mayson Casey, Braxton Britton, Michael White, and Doug Moore.
Honorary pallbearers will be Frank Pierce, Wanye Davidson, Chris Rataj, and Bob Smith.
