His Memorial Service will be held Thursday, December 29, 2016 in J. HENRY STUHR., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway at 11:00 a.m. Inurnment will follow in Bethany Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday in Stuhr's West Ashley Chapel from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Chris was the eldest of the late Major C.P. Acklin, Sr. and Winona May Weeks Acklin. He was born September 15, 1931 in Charleston, SC. He graduated from Johns Island High School and joined the Navy during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged from the service in 1955, he then attended The Citadel. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. He retired from the Naval Supply Center, where he received awards for his service during his tenure. He enjoyed many hobbies during his life time, fishing, photography, hunting, and collecting items of interest. His interest in Ornithology allowed him to spend many hours at his dining room window watching for that rare bird. Meteorology was his life long interest and he would keep records of the rain fall in his area for the local weather bureau. He is survived by his four sisters, Ada Acklin Glover of Johns Island, SC, Evelyn J. Glover of Norfolk, VA, Addie P. Wollam of Johns Island, SC, and Elizabeth Acklin Bowick with spouse Clancy Bowick of James Island, SC, numerous nephews and nieces along with a Dear cousin, Flo Carter of Beech Island, SC. Chris was predeceased by his sister, Barbara L. Lindenmuth. He will be missed and loved forever because of our Love through Jesus Christ. Love Your Family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Charleston, 4975 LaCross Road, Ste. 200, North Charleston, SC 29406 or Samaritan's Purse, PO Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607.

RIP my brother. You are missed every day. I miss talking to you most every week. I am amazed at the things in our lives that you recalled so vividly. You loved anything about the weather and gave me some interesting sites to look at on the internet. Your keeping track of the different birds that visited your feeders every day and participating in the bird watch every year for Cornell U. Yes, many are missing you today. Love from your sister, Evelyn

My brother, may he rest in Peace, was a unique person who loved anything about nature. He was a faithful son to our mother, watching over her until she died in 1992. He will forever be missed by his family here on earth, but is residing happily once again with "Momma" May, Daddy, and many others who have gone on before him, and for that we are eternally grateful to our Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ, who died for the sins of all mankind. Thank you Jesus. Thank you for watching over our loved one.

Sure miss calling him on the phone. The last meal I made him was chicken pot pie, but he never got to eat any of it. My brother was a private person but he let you know exactly how he thought. No one really knew how ill he was feeling.

I know he is resting in peace, but still miss him. If I needed to see what was happening with the weather, I would call him and he would tell me how bad or good it was going to be. Weather and nature, he loved so much. He was very much his own person. He will truly be missed by all his family.
