Christopher G. Bailey, 62, formerly of Southington, CT, passed away on April 12, 2026 in Santa Cruz, CA. He is survived by his wife, Anne Dallas, and his mother, Bette Ann (Curtin) Bailey, and pre-deceased by his father, Wallace Bailey.

Chris graduated from Southington High School, the University of Connecticut School of Engineering and Yale University where he received his doctorate in chemistry. After graduation, he moved to California where he worked at Sandia National Laboratories. He was a co-founder of Eksigent Technologies and later worked at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory.

Upon retirement, he and Anne made their home in Santa Cruz. He was drawn to the natural beauty of the California coast and enjoyed long walks along West Cliff Drive. He also loved backyard astronomy and was an avid trail-runner and accomplished ultramarathoner. Over the years, he and his wife enjoyed their travels to six continents.

Chris is also survived by his siblings: Richard (Cynthia) of Southington, CT, Mary Pat (David) of Ft. Wayne, IN, Robert (Kathy) of Ellsworth, ME, Brian (Susan) of Old Lyme, CT and Beth Ann (Karl) of Tigard, OR. In addition, he is survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, his aunt Arlene Weimer and his in-laws, Costantia, Ted and Nick Dallas.

Funeral arrangements will be private. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in memory of Chris to the East Bay SPCA (eastbayspca.org) or the Yale Peabody Museum (Peabody.Yale.edu).
