Christopher Anthony Best

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Christopher Anthony Best, who left this world on January 20, 2026, at the age of 34. He was deeply loved, and although our hearts are broken, his memory will live on.

Christopher was more than a son/brother/friend - he was caring and loving. He was known for his big smile, his love for his family, his sense of humor, those big glasses, and his infamous "hey y'all."

Christopher was born in Raleigh, NC, and spent much of his life in Grifton and along the coast of NC. He enjoyed spending his time at the beach. He loved movies, going out to eat, monster trucks, video games, and boxing. He found joy in both the big and small things.

He was preceded in death by those who loved him dearly: his grandmother, Wanda Best; his papa, Wayne Best; and his mother, Wendy Best.

He is survived by family who will carry him with them always: "Ghee and Poppy," Wanda and JP Smith; his grandmother, Diane Ross; uncles, Hesley Ross and Robert Best; his father, Rodney Baker; siblings, Kayla Williams, Carlos Whitaker, Christian Moore, and Hava Blount; his precious nieces, who he loved dearly; Elizabeth Jenkins, Aubrey & Autumn Moore, and Anayla Traynham; and his beloved bonus sister and nephew, Taylor Novak and Jaxton.

He was deeply loved by his family and friends. Though our time with Christopher was not long enough, his impact was deep and lasting. He will be remembered, loved, and missed beyond words.

Celebration of life will be held, Thursday, February 12, 2026 at 12:00 PM, at the Word of God Christian Center in New Bern, NC.

May he finally be at peace.
