Christopher "Chris" Caldwell

May 20, 1957 – February 1, 2026

With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Christopher "Chris" Caldwell, who was born on May 20, 1957, at Camp Pendleton, California, and passed away peacefully at home on February 1, 2026, in St. Petersburg, Florida. Chris was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Joyce Caldwell, his sister, Laurie Long-Rutledge and his niece, Michelle Stewart.

He leaves behind a family who loved him deeply: his daughters, Lindsey Lane (Mike) and Kelsey Jacobsen (Luke); his beloved granddaughters, Adelynn, Vivianne, and Gwendolyn, who brought him endless joy and pride; his sisters, Virginia Stewart (David) and Pamela Bentley; five nephews; extended family and many friends who became family along the way.

Chris grew up in Mt. Healthy, Ohio, where he met Jody Ranz, his lifelong companion and former wife, beginning a remarkable 50-year bond filled with shared memories, laughter, and unwavering support. Life brought its share of challenges, but Chris faced each hurdle with perseverance, humor, and a heart that chose positivity even in difficult moments.

Those who knew Chris will remember his playful spirit, his love of sports and gardening, and the peace he found in Florida's warm sunshine. He had a special gift for making genuine connections wherever he went.

More than anything, Chris will be remembered for his kindness, his resilience, and the love he poured into his family. His legacy lives on through the lives he touched, the gardens he nurtured, and the memories that will forever grow in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Florida Botanical Gardens in his memory. https://app.etapestry.com/onlineforms/FloridaBotanicalGardensFounda/Generaldonation.html
