Christopher M. Carlon

Red Hook - Christopher M. Carlon, 59 of Red Hook, NY, previous of Poughkeepsie, passed away on June 10, 2021. He was born on February 19, 1962, to James and Mary Jo DeGroat Carlon in Poughkeepsie, NY.

He was a graduate of Saint Mary's Catholic School; Poughkeepsie High School and Dutchess Community College. He retired from the New York State Department of Transportation, Region 8, after 34years, retiring in February 2017. Although he oversaw many impressive construction projects his last project and most favorite as NYSDOT's Engineer in Charge was the reconstruction of Crane Rd. Bridge in Scarsdale NY with Westchester County's Engineer Kevin Roseman, Resident Engineer Michael Oswald, Office Engineer Joe Rylowski and LKB/Savin's field staff. But because of his love & dedication to the industry he continued his career into the private sector sharing his wisdom & experience with the following engineering consulting firms: KS Engineering, Creighten Manning, Tectonics Engineering, and currently as Resident Engineer building the Kingston Roundabout for Infra Tech Engineering & NYSDOT.

On February 25, 2017, in Poughkeepsie, NY he married Marie Guzzo, who survives at home.

Christopher was of the Catholic Faith. Christopher was a loving father & husband. He enjoyed the little things in this world as well as the extravagant. He was full of life; eager to share his wisdom; witty, funny, loyal & a great friend, his presence & character was one to remember. He loved to go camping and vacation, cook and DJ with his family & friends. Trips to Robert Moses Beach, always field 5. He was an entertainer; Music & Dancing were a must in his household. His love for NYC was shared with his family out to Broadway shows, parks, museums, and always ending the evening at his favorite restaurant, Forlini's. He coached his sons in his favorite sport Basketball & beamed of pride during their games. His family was his pride and joy. He dreamed of in retirement traveling with them all over Ireland. He will be deeply missed by all those that knew & loved him.

Besides his mother and wife, Christopher is survived by his children; Anjanette, Stephanie, Michelle, Alexander & Mark Carlon; grandson, Christain Simmons-Carlon; his siblings James Carlon, Edward Carlon, Eileen and Edward Bentzlin, Ellen and Brian Edwards, Brian Carlon & Douglas Powell; mother of his daughters: Jill Carlon and mother of his sons: Diane Baker-Carlon as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his father James Carlon & brother Daniel Carlon; his grandparents, Charles & Marguerite Degroat and Francis & Frances Carlon.

Visitation is Wednesday, June 16, 2021, 4-7PM at the Joseph J. Darrow Sr. Funeral Home Inc. 39 So Hamilton St. Poughkeepsie, NY 12601 845-452-1840. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday, June 17, 2021, 10AM at St Marys Church 231 Church St Poughkeepsie, New York 12601. Christopher and i met through mutual friends. We both loved the game of basketball. Through that our friendship grew. But as life has it our lives went in different directions. Rest in peace my friend memories never die.
