Mr. Christopher "Chris" Madison Cheaney, age 52, of Louisville, Kentucky, entered this life on June 28, 1973 in Louisville, Kentucky. He was raised in Kalamazoo, Michigan and was the son of Thomas "Tom" Madison Cheaney, who preceded him in death and Virginia (Mahan) Rapley. Chris was a 1991 graduate of Loy Norrix High School in Kalamazoo, Michigan and briefly attended college. Chris worked for UPS Logistics in Louisville, Kentucky and Dearborn Heights, Michigan for several years. He was honored and commissioned as a Kentucky Colonel. Chris was united in marriage to Michael Eugene Cheaney on October 9, 2016 in Louisville, Kentucky. Chris enjoyed entertaining others and had a passion for singing and dancing. He especially loved singing karaoke with his best friend, Valerie. He also found great pleasure in writing music, watching movies -especially Star Trek - and cheering on his favorite football teams, the Michigan Wolverines and the Dallas Cowboys. Chris passed away at 9:44 p.m., Friday, December 19, 2025, at the Swiss Villa Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Vevay, Indiana.
Chris is survived by his husband, Michael Eugene Cheaney of Louisville, KY; his mother and step-father, Virginia (Mahan) and Frank Rapley of Naples, FL; his step-mother, Suzanne Cheaney of Louisville, KY; his sisters, Anne Cheaney of Louisville, KY, Darci Thompson and her husband, Jonathan of Houston, TX, and Sarah Morley and her husband, Todd of Louisville, KY; his brother, Michael Gustafson and his wife, Lisa of Louisville, KY; his maternal aunts and uncles, Ann and Edward Nemo of Cincinnati, OH, and Marilyn and Frank Blum of California; his paternal uncle, Buck Mays of Henderson, KY; and his several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas "Tom" Madison Cheaney; his maternal uncle and aunt, Robert and Ann Mahan; and his paternal aunt, Peggy Mays.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.
