Christopher Clayburn

 

Christopher Clayburn of Layton, Utah passed away on September 6, 2022, in the comfort of his own home and surrounded by his family. He was 52.

 

Chris is survived by his wife, Denise Clayburn (Nelson); his sister Cheree; his two sons Zachary Robert and Colton Thomas Clayburn; their wives Meghan Nichole and Baylee Claire Clayburn; and his granddaughter Emma Jeanie Clayburn, who held a very special place in his heart.

 

His death is preceded by his parents Robert T and Jolynn Clayburn (Upwall); his grandparents John Thomas and Norine Clayburn (Taylor); and his father-in-law Jack Menlove Nelson.

 

Chris was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on April 25, 1970. He spent his youth working with his father and uncle as iron workers. He graduated from Hillcrest High School where he had the privilege of meeting and eventually marrying his high school sweetheart. On April 20, 1990, Chris and Denise were sealed for all time and eternity in the Salt Lake City Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Their devotion to their covenants would set the tone for their eternal family for generations to come.  They were blessed with two wild boys who always kept them on their toes. Chris loved his family more than anything.

 

Chris was a man of many hobbies and liked to learn new skills at all points of his life. Some of his interests included soccer, football, running, swimming, hiking, and driving his motorcycle. He loved all things outdoors and would take any opportunity to be outside. He was a very big fan of Real Salt Lake and one of his favorite activities was attending their home games at Rio Tinto stadium with his family. He took up mountain biking a few years before his death and spent as much time as he could on the trails. He was a very hard worker and did everything in his power to provide for his family.

 

Chris’s motto for life was “keep it simple” and this reflected through his testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He was very in-tune with the Spirit and learned to love the Lord with his whole heart. His passing was made easier knowing that he would one day reunite with all his family members. The example that he set for his two boys will bless their families and many other families in the future.

           

Funeral services will be held Monday, September 12, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the Chelsea Park 3rd Ward, 2800 W. Gordon Avenue, Layton, Utah.  Friends may visit with family Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Rd., Layton, Utah, and Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
