Christopher Jay Coons

It is with deep sadness that the family of Chris Coons shares that he passed away on July 25, 2024, at the age of 72 after a brief battle with stage 4 colon cancer. He called Tacoma and the surrounding areas his home for more than 40 years after first being stationed at McChord Airforce Base during his service. He leaves behind his wife Terri, her daughters Lindsey and Denise, and his children from his first marriage: Laura, Christopher, and Jonathan. He also was lucky enough to have 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He was an Ace certified mechanic, and even after he retired, he refused to give up working on any car that needed fixing. He was an active and beloved member of the Tacoma music scene. You could always find him on a weekend at Jazz Bones, the Spar, and other local spots running sound for musical acts. He loved Seattle sports and passed on a maniacal passion for the Mariners and Seahawks to his kids. He will be sorely missed for the humor, joy, and love he brought to his family and his community.
A memorial open to any who'd like to attend will be held at Jazz Bones on Monday, August 26th.
