Holden/Catskill, NY – Christopher V. Crowe, 81, beloved husband of the late Jean (Mitchell) Crowe, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at St. Mary Health Care Center in Worcester. He grew up in Catskill, NY. He was the son of the late Christopher and Hazel (Johnson) Crowe.
After graduating from Brown University, he went on to further his education at the University of Maryland where he earned a master’s degree. Christopher enjoyed a long career as a mechanical engineer, having worked for Tuthill Corporation, Coppus Engineering Corp. and Dresser-Rand. He was a long-time supporter of The Friends of the Red Barn in Holden and donated his time to fundraising and restoring the barn.
He spent countless hours on the Hudson River as an avid duck hunter. Christopher was an antique car enthusiast and a member of the Wachusett Antique Car Club. He took great pleasure in restoring several cars throughout the years.
In the years following his retirement, he enjoyed long walks through Holden, and became a beloved community fixture, keeping Main Street and Malden Street clean and tidy!
He will be lovingly missed and remembered by his two daughters, Cynthia Curtis and her husband, Randy of Holden and Carolyn Barber and her husband, Jonathon of North Attleborough; his twin sister, Christina Borrin of Moultonborough, NH; his brother, Brian Crowe of Nevada; his five grandchildren including Samuel, Olivia, Matthew, Abigail and Jack; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service in Catskill, NY will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in his name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Arrangements are under the care of Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. www.milesfuneralhome.com
