Christopher Louis Flores, 67, passed away peacefully on January 13, 2026. He was born on August 3, 1958, to Manuel and Dora (Sisneros) Flores in
Denver, Colorado. He married Cathy (Marr) Flores on January 3, 1981, and had their twin boys in 1986. Chris and Cathy celebrated their 45th year of marriage together this year. Chris was a long-time resident of Capulin, with time also spent living in Wyoming and Arizona, but
Capulin, CO and the San Luis Valley were always his home. He moved back to Colorado with his wife, Cathy Flores, and twin boys Christopher A. Flores and William L. Flores, in 1995 where they purchased what everyone in the area knows as the old store and made it into their family home with a view of the mountains that he loved so much.
Chris was an Army veteran and honorably served his country from 1976-1977. His dedication to family, country, and others was instilled in his twin sons, as they both followed the military path after graduating high school. His son Little Chris (as he was fondly called by him) chose to follow in his footsteps and serve in the Army, while his son William served in the Marine Corps. His dedication to serving others did not stop after his time in the Army, as he continued to support his military brothers and sisters and others, through his volunteer work and the jobs that he chose. Chris served his small community of Capulin as a volunteer firefighter for over 20 years, where he hardly ever missed a call for service. He was a VFW auxiliary member for many years, under the eligibility of his son William, and he was also a member of the American Legion.
Chris was a devoted and loving husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin, and Papa (a title that he cherished with all his heart). He spent many afternoons and evenings cheering on his beloved sports teams, the Denver Broncos, Colorado Avalanche, Denver Nuggets, Colorado Rockies and his favorite Nascar drivers, with his family by his side. Many cherished memories that his wife and sons share of him, were ones spent attending Bronco games at the old and new Mile High Stadiums, and traveling around the state for his sons' sporting events. When they weren't attending sporting events, he loved to be outdoors working on his cars, hunting – although there were times when it was more of a mountain drive or pinon picking with him, fishing, or spending quality time with his family.
Chris is preceded in death by his parents; Manuel and Dora Flores, grandparents, and several other family members.
Chris is survived by his wife, Cathy Flores of
Capulin, CO, sons Chris (Ashley) Flores of La Jara, CO, William (Nadia) Flores of
Capulin, CO, brother John (Mary) Flores of Antonito, CO, brother Matthew (Dianna) Flores of Pine, CO, sister Laura (Ken) Schell of
Capulin, CO, and sister Alice Flores of Antonito, CO. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Zoe Flores, Megan Flores, Jacob Flores, Meredith Flores, Samantha Flores, and Charlotte Flores, as well as his aunts, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.
Cremation has been chosen by the family, and a viewing has been scheduled for January 16, 2026 from 11am – 1pm at Romero's Funeral Home in Alamosa. A memorial service and inurnment will be scheduled for a later date.
