Christopher Joseph Gartland

Christopher Joseph Gartland died unexpectedly at his home in Ozark, MO, on October 3,2022. Over far too soon, his brief life touched all those who knew him.
A funeral and celebration of his life will be on Friday, October 28, 2022, at 10:00 AM at Holy Trinity Church located at 2818 E. Bennett in Springfield Missouri. There will be a gathering and luncheon after the service in the church community room.
Christopher was born in Asunción, Paraguay on March 29, 1993, the beloved oldest son of Patrick Gartland and Patricia McCormick-Gartland. He spent the first seven years of his life with his family in the Chicagoland area then moved to Springfield in 2002. He attended Logan-Rogersville schools through the eighth grade then transferred to and graduated from Springfield Catholic High School class of 2011.
Always an avid sportsman and talented athlete, Chris played soccer, track, basketball, and football. During his senior year on the football team, Catholic won 11 games with only two losses. Chris recently began enjoying the game of golf and was beginning to excel at it in his usual fashion.
Christopher had a vibrant personality that led him to a career in sales with both Wyndham and Bluegreen companies. He won the top sales position three times during his short career.
He was a handsome, charming young man, and will be remembered for his sense of humor, charisma and a smile that lit up the room.
Chris leaves behind two lovely daughters-- Layla Marie Williams, age 5, daughter of Lapresia, and Aubrey Parker Mach, age 4, daughter of Taylor. He loved his girls with all his heart.
Chris is predeceased by Grandmother Katherine L. Riffle and Grandfather Clifford J. McCormick. He is survived by a large and loving family: his parents Pat and Pat, his brother Matthew James Gartland, his grandmother Juanita O'Brien McCormick, 23 aunts and uncles, 19 cousins, and 23 first cousins once removed.
